Bangkok Day 3 – Luxury Finds, Skechers Steals, & An Italian Feast

After two exciting days in Bangkok, i.e. Bangkok Day 1: High-End Cafés, Local Rides & Festive Feels and Bangkok Day 2: Safari Adventures, Hair Spa Indulgence & Night Market Strolls, I woke up to a breathtaking view from my window. Originally, the plan was to spend the day at Dream World, but considering the time crunch and the fact that it’s more suited for kids, we decided to swap it for a shopping day at Siam Premium Outlets. Plus, it was December 12—my dad’s birthday—so what better way to celebrate than with shopping, fun, and good company?

We reached the outlet around noon, and even though the heat was unforgiving, we knew we had limited time left in Bangkok to shop and relax, so we had to power through. Luckily, the place was windy, making it somewhat bearable. As the name suggests, Siam Premium Outlets felt premium—from high-end luxury brands like Balenciaga, Burberry, Furla, Versace, Coach, Michael Kors, and Fred Perry to more affordable options like Nike, Adidas, Mango, and local Thai brands. To top it off, we even received vouchers to use in some of the stores, which got us even more excited!

Since I’m not someone who splurges too much on materialistic things, I first explored Thai and Korean fashion stores. I loved the styles, but most of the clothing was too summer-friendly for Delhi’s chilly December weather. Plus, finding my exact size was a challenge in many stores. So, I ended up scrolling through racks, sending pictures to my sister back home, and moving on to the next store.

Of course, being true Indians, we couldn't help but compare prices with what we’d pay in Delhi. My calculator was on standby the entire time, converting Thai Baht to INR after every glance at a price tag. While the variety of products was unique, the prices weren’t that different from what we’d pay in India. The vouchers we got? Completely useless for the brands we wanted to shop from, so we ended up paying full price.

As we hopped from store to store, grabbing gifts for family, nieces, nephews, and ourselves, we started feeling the exhaustion creep in. To make things worse, there were no Indian restaurants inside the outlet, so we had to settle for quick snacks—coffee, fries, chips, and whatever we could grab from the standing food vans.

Just when we were about to call it a day, someone from our group spotted a Skechers store—and that’s when things took a turn! They had one of the best offers, something like buy one, get one free (I don’t remember exactly). Two of the kids ended up buying five pairs of shoes, and even the adults couldn’t resist grabbing some for themselves. In the end, Skechers was the real deal of the day! And I was busy capturing Cha Eun Woo, the K-drama actor and singer who appeared on the Skechers advertising screen outside the store.

It was a fun yet exhausting shopping spree, and after a long day of walking, we were more than ready to head back to the hotel and relax.

The moment we tried to book a taxi, we ran into trouble—poor network and lack of availability of taxis big enough to accommodate 7–8 people. Booking two smaller ones seemed like the only option, but to our frustration, both got canceled twice. We sat there, clueless for a while, wondering how we'd get back. Since we were 11 people in total, finding a larger vehicle was a struggle. After multiple attempts, we finally managed to book two separate taxis, got in, and headed back to Amari Hotel.

Honestly, Bangkok's traffic and transport situation can be unpredictable, especially when traveling in large groups. If you’re ever in a similar situation, I’d suggest keeping multiple ride-hailing apps like Grab, Bolt, or InDriver on your phone. For groups, renting a private van could be a lifesaver instead of struggling to find multiple taxis at the last minute. Also, always book a little in advance if you know you’ll be heading back during rush hour.

As soon as we reached, hunger struck! The plan was to meet at the reception in 15 minutes and then head to the Indian restaurant street in Pratunam, where we'd been eating most of the nights. But I, along with three others, decided to ditch the adults for the night and treat ourselves to something different—Italian food at Amari Hotel's Prego Italian Restaurant (you can read my detailed review here).

Prego had a cozy yet upscale vibe, making it a perfect break from all the Indian and Thai food we'd been having. I’d recommend checking it out if you’re staying at Amari and craving something other than local cuisine. The pasta was rich and creamy, the pizza had the perfect crust, and the overall experience was so worth it. It’s one of those hotel restaurants that live up to the hype—a great option if you don’t feel like stepping out.

After indulging in delicious pasta and pizza, we regrouped because, as I mentioned earlier, it was my dad’s birthday. While the others were still finishing their meals, we—the ones who had opted for Italian food—found ourselves free earlier than expected. So, instead of heading straight back, we decided to take a stroll around Central World (click to know more).

The night felt alive with city lights, and the area was buzzing with energy. We captured some pictures, soaked in the festive ambiance, and just enjoyed the cool evening air before making our way back to the hotel.

Meanwhile, we had also managed to arrange a cake for the celebration. Thankfully, finding one wasn’t a hassle since most hotels in Bangkok have in-house bakeries, and 7-Eleven stores are stocked with a variety of cakes, too. Pro tip: If you ever find yourself celebrating a special occasion while traveling, check with your hotel concierge, visit a gourmet bakery, or stop by a supermarket for some quick and delicious options.

Once the cake was ready, we gathered everyone in one of our hotel rooms and spent time chilling, laughing, and celebrating. No fancy party—just a cozy family moment, which made it all the more special. After all the excitement and exhaustion from the day, we finally called it a night, ready for whatever Bangkok had in store for us next.
