Hello!
Glad you stopped by. Here is something you probably want to check out.
I am Kanishka, writing this blog For The Love Of Food.
The Irish Playwright George Bernard Shaw once said, There is no sincerer love than the love of food, means that you might love your parents, your spouse or your kids or your near and dear ones, but nothing matches the feeling of warmth and comfort that comes from sitting down to a delicious meal.
I love food. Always have (not exactly) and always will. I've been thinking lately about how we all must have a special love for food in our lives. There are moments when we crave the taste of home-cooked food or even the aroma of freshly made coffee in an air-conditioned café or restaurant with dessert and soft music playing in the background. Isn't it?
So, I will tell you a little about my food history in this article.
P.S.: It's a slider with 3 images. So, keep sliding >>
Back in the days when I once used to hate eating home-cooked food or any food instead. I was too skinny, and people around me used to ask my parents, "kuch khane ko nhi dete kya isse aap?", "yai kuch khati bhi h ki nahi?" and stuff. That bothered me a little, but I was stubborn not to eat much.
Then college happened (Graduation), and I don't know what exactly changed me, and I was the foodie among my friends. I always hated my lunch and used to eat my friend's lunch, or canteen ki Maggi with Iced Tea, ya bahar wali aunty ke momos or honey chilli potatoes. I liked everything. But still, I was underweight for years. And I had the knack for wearing tight-fitting clothes, so I used to get every clothing altered. P.S. I still am, and I still do.
But, then after eating such oily and junk food for years, Acne happened (every teenager's problem). I consulted many doctors, but Acne is a phase, "itni asani se peecha nahi chodhega", LOL :P
Gradually, I had to cut down on my junk food intake.
Then after Grad, I started my Master's. And one fine day during my Master's in 2020, I got selected for an Exchange Semester in Austria for six months. Woohoo! It was a beautiful journey (the poem I wrote on the flight back to India, coming soon). While there was no access to auto rickshaws or cabs, I used to walk to my college, grocery markets and nearby places, which made me carry food with me to keep eating while I walked. I even kept some snacks in my room to munch anytime while watching a movie, doing projects, or talking to friends.
You won't believe it, but eating frequently and walking simultaneously for around 2-4 km made me gain 8 kilos in just 3-4 months. I was so happy I had to buy some new clothes because I couldn't fit the older ones (just a few).
Finally, when I returned to India, I had to get my clothes fixed into the size that fit me. I was happy because I gave new meaning to my clothes. And people around me started noticing and not commenting. Ahhh...I did it for myself!
So, in the end, now I am just a foodie, still underweight but better than before, eating what I like, probably every weekend at a new café or a restaurant and sharing thoughts, pictures, reels, and experiences with you.
