The Scariest Touch Down Ever

As promised, I’m back with PART 2 of my previous blog, "My First Take Off."
And since it’s the spring season, what better time to share the most memorable yet terrifying summer touchdown I’ve ever experienced?
A Flashback to 2007: The Dream Trip Ends on a Nightmare Note
It was the summer of 2007 when I flew to Goa with my parents to celebrate their 25th anniversary. (If you haven’t read about the planning chaos, check out "My First Take Off" for a fun flashback!) The trip was absolutely amazing—everything went according to plan until the very last day.
Finally, the time had come to head back home. We reached the airport and went through check-ins, security, and boarding without a hitch. I was thrilled when I saw my window seat—night views from the sky. Yes, please! 🌙
Once the plane took off, dinner was served, and as expected, post-food sleepiness kicked in (POV: khana khane ke baad sabko neend aati hai yaar 😴).
Little did I know, my sweet slumber was about to turn into a nightmare.
"We've Entered Delhi, But…"
A sudden announcement from the pilot startled me awake:
"We have entered Delhi, but due to bad weather conditions, there might be a delay in landing."
I rubbed my eyes and eagerly looked out the window, hoping to spot my house (as if that was possible 😆). But what I saw instead sent shivers down my spine.
⚡ Dark skies, heavy rain, fierce thunderstorms, and lightning flashing like something out of a horror movie.
I immediately switched seats with my mom and clung to the aisle seat—far away from the window and those terrifying "giant monster clouds" (yes, that’s what I called them).
Then came another announcement:
"We ask that you please fasten your seatbelts and secure all baggage underneath your seat."
At this point, my panic levels skyrocketed. The airplane was bouncing up and down, shaking violently as we flew through thick storm clouds.
And then—the worst part happened.
The in-flight lights flickered, overhead baggage compartments popped open, and bags started tumbling down onto passengers. The turbulence was relentless, and I could hear screams, gasps, and prayers all around me.
A Full-Blown Panic Attack at 30,000 Feet
I broke down completely—crying hysterically while clutching my seat for dear life. 😭 Passengers around me tried to console me, but nothing worked. An uncle and aunt nearby even made me sit with them and offered me chocolate to calm me down, but let’s be honest—no amount of chocolate could save me from that horror.
For what felt like forever (but was actually 30 minutes), we were stuck in a terrifying turbulence loop.
Then, just when I thought it would never end, the pilot's voice crackled through the speakers:
"We apologize for the inconvenience. The situation is now under control, and we will be landing soon."
PHEWWWW! The entire plane sighed in relief. The crew quickly served water, and slowly, the tension eased.
Finally, A Safe Landing!
After what felt like the longest flight of my life, we finally landed at Delhi Airport—right in the middle of a heavy downpour. But at that point, I didn’t care. I was just grateful to be on the ground again!
I was still shaken, exhausted, and super sleepy from all the delays, but one thing was for sure—this was an experience I’d never forget.
The End of a Spooky Journey
And that’s how my Goa trip ended with the scariest turbulence ever.
I hope none of you ever have to experience something like this, but if you do—just remember, no storm lasts forever!
Until next time, Happy (and safe) travels! 😊
